decorative imageEstablished in 1992, the University of the Phillippines Alumni and Friends Rondalla promotes appreciation of Philippine culture through music using Filipino traditional instruments. The members are committed to preserving and propagating the rondalla as a native string ensemble consisting of the bandurria, laud, octavina, guitar, and bass.
Based in New Jersey, the UPAFR has been enthusiastically received by Filipino and multicultural audiences in various cities in the United States and abroad.  Its repertoire includes traditional folk and contemporary music from the Philippines and other nations, light classical, popular Broadway and church music.
The group shares their knowledge on the rondalla by attracting more participation and attendance in classes, workshops, and performances.
